Trainee Tendering Engineer

Overall Purpose of the Role:

The Trainee Tendering Engineer will report to and be the responsibility of the Pre-Contract Lead.  As a Trainee, you will receive comprehensive training to equip you with the knowledge and skills required to undertake the full scope of activities involved in producing a fully compliant tender.

You will be based at our Head Office and will be delivering tendering works and quotation revisions across all our regions. There will also be a requirement to undertake site visits in accordance with the training plan and Individual Development Plan.

What you will be doing:

  • Log all new enquiries into internal systems accurately and promptly.
  • Submit POC applications for all relevant works.
  • Assist with the outline designs for all utility services involved in each scheme.
  • Prepare and deliver fully compliant tender submissions in line with company standards and client requirements.
  • Attend all mandatory safety training and obtain the required site safety qualifications to enable you to carry out site visits.
  • Undertake periodic site visits to observe and gain understanding of installation, testing, and commissioning processes for electric and water network infrastructure.
  • Carry out route walkovers where necessary to assess off-site routes and identify the most suitable options.
  • Develop the ability to manage multiple tender projects simultaneously, prioritising workload to ensure high-quality tenders are completed accurately and delivered on time.
  • Liaise with Asset Owners, developers, and other stakeholders to gather information essential for improving the accuracy and completeness of tender submissions.

  • Good knowledge of Microsoft Excel, Office, Word and Outlook
  • Good Literacy and numeracy Skills (grades 4 or above)
  • Excellent communication skills both written and verbal
  • Good telephone manner
  • Good team working skills
  • Ability to problem solve
  • Ability to manage own workload, set priorities and work to strict deadlines
