Utility Land Rights Coordinator

Job Summary:

Aptus Utilities are seeking to recruit a strong collaborator and multi-tasker to join us in the new role of Utility Land Rights Coordinator. This is an ideal opportunity to develop your knowledge and experience across multiple utility providers; electricity, gas and water.

The ideal candidate will be knowledgeable in, and have experience of, multi-utility land rights processes and requirements, together with previous experience within the utility industry.

As the Utility Land Rights Coordinator, you will be responsible for monitoring established processes and influencing timely progression of utility land rights activities across our contract awards.

Whilst contributing fresh ideas and gaining experience in our design and operational activities, you will have an opportunity to progress and develop skills, allowing you to implement these into daily activities.

Main Activities (The duties of the job):


  • Knowledge of, and the capability to process Distribution Network Operators (DNOs) Adoption Agreements (AA’s), DNOs Bilateral Connection Agreements (BCA’s) and Water Utility Self Lay Agreements (SLA’s).
  • Understand the requirements of Heads of Terms (HoT’s) and Land Searches and the process for completing these.
  • Coordinate, monitor and report upon the progression of utility land right activities across our contract awards.
  • Engage with, and proactively build relationships with, key individuals across our client base; developers; utility companies, and the legal and land and property departments within those organisations, influencing effective, smooth and time efficient progression.
  • Obtain utility land rights status updates from the legal and land property departments within the utility companies, as well as all other stakeholders.
  • Provide progress reports to our Operations Team and Clients to inform decision making at the initial stages of construction and throughout the duration of works.
  • Collaborate and communicate with our Operations Team and Clients to ensure a common and consistent approach is adopted.
  • Identify contract priorities and subsequently engage with the legal and land property departments within the utility companies and developers, to influence where they should focus their attentions.
  • Responsible for managing, updating and monitoring progression on our Land Rights databases.

Skills & Qualifications required:

  • Experienced in, and dedicated to, providing high quality administrative support and project coordination.
  • Previous experience working within the utility industry and/or for ICP’s.
  • Prioritise workflow to ensure that utility land rights activities are progressed and completed within the shortest possible timescales and in accordance with KPI metrics.
  • Excellent communications skills, effectively managing Client relationships, ensuring Client’s expectations are met and where-ever possible exceeded.
  • Self-motivated, with the ability to effectively translate Land Rights data and information.
  • Committed to providing the highest levels of customer service, with a positive approach, achieving maximum customer satisfaction.
  • High level of accuracy and attention to detail.
  • A team player with the ability to work independently, under pressure, and influence progression and resolution of any Land Rights activities.
  • A strong communicator across all internal and external stakeholders.
  • An initiative-taking approach to solving problems and seeking information, is required.
  • Experience using Microsoft programs including Excel, Word and Outlook.
  • Ability to multi-task, prioritise and plan to meet tight deadlines to achieve required targets is essential


Working Conditions

This is a full-time position working within an office environment.


Salary and benefits package will be based on experience.

Location: Aptus House, Unit 19-20 Barrs Fold Road, Wingates Industrial Estate, Bolton, BL5 3XP.

however, we will consider applicants from alternative areas to reflect our depots regions, including Midlands, Yorkshire, Northeast and Penrith.
