Overall Purpose of the Role:
You will report directly to the Head of Design & Estimation. The role is to manage the performance and delivery of all Pre-Contract activities within Aptus across our 4 Regions to ensure a smooth delivery of all Tenders, Outline Designs, priority work whilst collaborating with other departments.
What you will be doing:
- Supporting the business to identify a range of performance requirements and KPIs, together with the provision of periodic reports on individual and team performance
- Manage all outline designs as required based on priorities given from Estimation, allocating where necessary and ensuring targets are met
- Ensure all completed outline designs are “buildable”, meet the highest levels of quality and are delivered within agreed timescales ensuring consistency in presentation and standards
- Training and supporting new or existing team members (including trainees) to ensure they can undertake all estimation functions in line with Company procedures
- Engage with Regional Design Managers to ensure effective collaboration and develop tenders to streamline the delivery process
- Manage and deliver tenders based on priorities given from the business development team
- Engage with clients ensuring adaptability to market requirements
What we ask from you:
- Technical Skills: Proficiency in understanding drawings, plans and specifications
- Management Skills: Experience in team leadership, strategic planning and mentoring team members
- Commercial Acumen: A strong understanding of commercial policies, contracts, and the ability to negotiate effectively
- Communication: Excellent verbal and written communication skills for presenting estimates and collaborating with various stakeholders
- Industry Knowledge: In-depth knowledge of Multi-Utility residential developments, I&C knowledge
- Collaborate with project managers, engineers, and other team members
- Liaise with clients to understand their needs and ensure satisfaction
- Work closely with subcontractors, vendors, and suppliers
- Minimum of 3 years’ experience in a management or leadership role within an estimating or pre-construction function
- Strong background in the utilities or construction industry.
- Full UK Driving Licence
