Overall Purpose of the Role:
We are seeking a highly motivated and technically strong Financial Controller to lead our finance function and support the business on its journey to becoming best in class. You will be the right-hand person to the CFO, taking ownership of core finance responsibilities and playing a key leadership role in the business.

What you will be doing:
Financial Reporting & Control
- Lead the preparation of accurate and timely monthly management accounts.
- Develop and deliver high-quality board reporting, providing clear financial insight and commentary.
- Take full ownership of the balance sheet, ensuring its integrity through regular review, reconciliation, and risk assessment.
- Maintain robust financial controls and compliance across the business.
- Manage cash flow to ensure liquidity needs are met and develop strategies to maximise working capital.
Audit, Banking & Insurance
- Manage external audit process, acting as primary liaison with auditors to ensure smooth and timely completion.
- Oversee banking relationships, including cash flow management and covenant compliance.
- Lead insurance renewals and risk management processes.
Management Information & Strategic Support
- Design and implement insightful management information (MI) reporting to support decision-making.
- Drive budgeting, forecasting and financial modelling processes in collaboration with the wider business i.e. commercial, operations, procurement etc.
- Continuously improve reporting tools and systems to enhance clarity, speed, and value of insights.
Team Leadership & Process Improvement
- Lead and develop the finance team to deliver a high-performance, service-oriented culture.
- Review and enhance financial processes and systems to drive efficiency, scalability, and control.
- Support the CFO on strategic initiatives, business planning, and investor reporting.
What we ask from you:
- Qualified accountant (ACA or equivalent).
- Degree qualification: Minimum 2:1 (or equivalent) in Accounting, Finance, Economics, Maths or a related discipline from a reputable university.
- Proven experience in a Financial Controller or senior finance role, ideally but not essential within the construction sector.
- Strong technical knowledge of accounting standards and regulatory requirements.
- Experience managing external audit and banking relationships.
- Demonstrable ability in budgeting, forecasting and producing board-level MI.
- Advanced Excel and financial modelling skills; experience with ERP systems and reporting tools is a plus
