Electric Jointer’s Mate (LV/HV)

Overall Purpose of the Role:

Aptus Utilities are looking for motivated and reliable Electric Jointers Mates to support our skilled jointing teams working on underground power networks based in the Cumbria area. This is an excellent opportunity for someone looking to build a career in the electrical industry, gain hands-on experience, with the possibility to develop towards a qualified Jointer role.

What you will be doing:

• Assisting LV/HV Jointers with cable jointing and terminations
• Supporting site setup, excavation, and reinstatement activities
• Handling tools, materials, and equipment safely and efficiently
• Acting as Safety Mate and maintaining safe working practices
• Assisting with fault finding and basic repairs under supervision
• Helping with guarding, barriers, and traffic/pedestrian safety
• Supporting LV switching operations where authorised
• Ensuring all work areas are kept clean, organised, and safe

What we ask from you:

• Interested in developing a career within power and utilities industry
• Practical, hands-on, and comfortable working outdoors
• Willing to learn from experienced jointers and follow instructions
• Safety-focused with a strong work ethic
• Reliable and flexible with a positive attitude
• In possession of a full UK driving licence (preferred)
• You take pride in supporting quality work safely
• You’re a team player who can also use initiative
• Eager to learn and develop new skills
• Strong communication and a can-do attitude

Desirable (but not essential)

• Previous experience in construction, utilities, or civils
• NRSWA (SLG)
• First Aid training
• Confined Space certification
• Basic understanding of electrical or cable systems
