Multi Utility Operative- Northeast

Aptus Utilities is a leading provider of utility infrastructure solutions, working across gas, water, electric sectors. With a focus on safety, quality, and customer satisfaction, we are expanding and looking for skilled and motivated individuals to join our team in the Northeast.

Overall Purpose of the Role:

To support the safe and efficient installation of multi-utility services by assisting with excavation, installation, and reinstatement activities, ensuring work is completed to the required quality, safety, and performance standards.

What you will be doing:

• Assist with the installation and connection of multi-utility services, including gas, water, and electricity networks, under the guidance of qualified operatives.
• Support excavation, trenching, duct laying, backfilling, and reinstatement activities in accordance with project specifications and industry standards.
• Safely use hand tools, equipment, and plant machinery where trained, authorised, and competent to do so.
• Assist with the loading, unloading, storage, and transportation of materials, plant, and equipment to and from site.
• Maintain a clean, safe, and organised working environment, ensuring good housekeeping standards are upheld at all times.
• Follow all company health, safety, environmental, and quality procedures, reporting any hazards, incidents, near misses, or concerns promptly.
• Support the site team in ensuring work is completed efficiently, to programme, and to the required quality standards.
• Accurately complete site paperwork, job records, vehicle checks, and any other documentation required.
• Work collaboratively with colleagues, subcontractors, customers, and members of the public, maintaining a professional attitude at all times.
• Follow instructions from Supervisors, Team Leaders, and skilled operatives, demonstrating a willingness to learn and develop new skills.
• Assist in the protection of existing utilities and infrastructure during excavation and installation activities.
• Ensure company vehicles, tools, and equipment are used responsibly and kept in good condition.

What we ask from you:

• Previous experience working within a construction, utilities, civils, or groundwork environment.
• Relevant industry tickets/certifications e.g. SHEA, NCO, Streetworks/NRSWA (desirable)
• CSCS card (desirable)
• Full UK driving licence (essential)
• Ability to work effectively as part of a team.
• Commitment to health & safety standards
• Strong work ethic and reliability
