Supplier Spotlight – PE Pipeline Specialists

In our supplier spotlight we talk to Paul Evans, Managing Director of PE Pipeline Specialists who gives us the lowdown on the services they provide, what sets them apart from their competitors and the projects they work on for Aptus.

Q: Tell us a little bit about PE Pipeline Specialists and what you do?

PE Pipeline Specialists are a family run, independent multi-utility supply company, established in 2014. We supply a full gas and water mains to meter system with the addition of electrical ducting. Since forming we have grown the business year-on-year to a turnover of £19 million in 2022, and in 2019 moved into a 14000sq ft unit to meet the increasing demand for our ‘mains-to-meter’ expertise and specialist product range. Our greatest asset are our employees who are dedicated, knowledgeable and customer focused.

Q: Where are you based?

We’re based in Ashton-in-Makerfield on the outskirts of Wigan, just off junction 25 of the M6 motorway. This means we’re ideally situated to supply all of the UK from our distribution centre.

Q: What makes you different from others in your sector?

We care about our customers and the outcome of their orders; all our staff buy into the ethos of customer care. I have always been of the impression that a happy workforce will treat our clients in the manner in which we would expect to be treated. What’s more, all our staff are well trained in their position and have a passion for the company. We’re all about excellent customer experience too and combined with outstanding product knowledge, this ensures we give the right advice for each
application. Plus, with nearly £1.5 million worth of stock holding, we are able to offer a fast turnaround on most product requirements including specialist sizes and specifications.

Q: What services do you provide for Aptus?

We currently supply Aptus with a variety of multi-utility materials ranging from gas and water mains pipelines to smaller service materials direct to the developer which include meter boxes, boundary boxes and ducting.

Q: What problems do you solve for clients?

Our aim is to deliver on time and in full for all multi-utility product requirements. We understand our customers’ needs and can often offer better alternatives to ensure their projects are successful. Honesty is key to our success, and we always manage expectations and exhaust all avenues should an issue arise. Working closely with our clients, we always try to find a way to satisfy requirements.

Q: What challenges are your industry facing?

As with most businesses, our main challenges are all based around inflation and increased running and material costs. 2022 was one of the most challenging years we have faced which saw us constantly finding ways to streamline and identify cost savings to
support our clients.

Q: What are PE Pipeline’s aims for the next five years?

Despite all the challenges, demand for our products has increased, so our main aim is growth to help meet these requirements.
We are in the process of exploring expansion into the Leeds area to improve our service offer in the East too.
