About Aptus

Our Story

Aptus Utilities was founded in Bolton, in March 2010, out of an ambition to provide a multi-utility solution that streamlines and speeds up building processes for construction companies and to create a business that places customer service and integrity at its core.

The economic recession of 2008 was hugely detrimental to the construction industry, in particular small building firms, while increasingly complex procedures and protracted bureaucracy were obstructing the completion of construction projects. With more than 50 years’ combined industry experience Aptus’ owners Andrew Reay and Jonathan Holden identified an opportunity to form a business that supports local independent firms as effectively as national housebuilders and helps the construction industry to meet vital targets.

Aptus Core Values

Our Core Values

Our success is not possible without the dedication of our team and a unified approach and commitment to deliver the optimum customer service. Ongoing rigorous processes of evaluation and review inform every aspect of the business, at every level, to ensure our high standards never slip.

At Aptus we aim to get it ‘right first time’ and we will go the extra mile to find a cost-effective solution, but not at the expense of quality or safety. We aim to be responsive and accountable throughout the course of our business, from site to office. These are the principles that have shaped the company as it has grown from one employee to over 350, and as we continue to build each day.

The Aptus Model

Their approach was to combine multi-utility solutions with total project management. Total or ‘full’ project management means that each scheme is led by a project manager, providing one point of contact which aids communication with the developer. This means Aptus takes charge of all aspects, liaising with local authorities, network operators and third parties to implement end-to-end utility connections. Knowing that the utilities are in safe hands frees the developer to focus wholly on the completion of their development.

Fourteen years on and more than 1700 contracts later the Aptus model has been highly successful, acting as a catalyst to others within the Utilities industry. A raft of experience has been added to our ranks and we now support clients across the full breadth of England, up to the Scottish Borders and as far south Devon.
