THE PROJECT:

Aptus was contracted by the UK’s largest independent forecourt operator – Motor Fuel Group (MFG) – to help the company with the rollout of its expanding network of ultra-rapid electric vehicle chargers.

The project in Rusholme, Manchester, required us to install infrastructure and a new substation to enable MFG to add six 150Kw chargers to their portfolio.

As with all our projects, it was imperative for us to scope out and follow a strict timing schedule. From the outset our operations, electrical and design teams collaborated to establish a plan which was backed up by punctual communications with MFG.

As part of this we held regular meetings with MFG to keep them informed of progress and key development updates, while our internal teams also held scheduled project briefings to make sure everything was on track.

This attention to detail helped deliver results.

An early date for the road opening notice – which was pivotal in allowing us to keep construction on schedule – was secured, while we were also able to achieve an energisation date just three days after submission.

The learnings from Rusholme, alongside the relationships we’ve fostered with MFG, are proving invaluable on the four other projects we’re working with them on across the North West as part of their commitment to invest £400m in ultra-rapid chargers by 2030.
