Aptus assists Motor Fuel Group (MFG) with rollout of EV charging infrastructure

Rusholme 6We are proud to be supporting the UK’s pathway to Net Zero with our rollout of EV charging point infrastructure. As part of our strategy, we are delighted to be assisting the UK’s largest independent forecourt operator, Motor Fuel Group (MFG), and recently energised the supply we installed at Rusholme, in Manchester, adding to MFG’s rapidly expanding network of ultra-rapid chargers.

Aptus was contracted to install the infrastructure and new substation at the Shell forecourt in Rusholme, allowing MFG to add six 150kW chargers to their portfolio. The chargers have the capacity to add 100 miles range in around 10 minutes, offering a reliable source of clean fuel that meets the daily transportation needs of motorists.

Aptus successfully managed a number of challenges presented by the site to achieve timely energisation, in keeping with the client’s expectations. We are pleased to have secured contracts for a further four sites in the North West, which are currently in various stages of delivery, as well as having expanded our geographical area of work for MFG with a recent project win in the North East.

MFG has committed to invest £400m in ultra-rapid chargers by 2030. As a trusted partner we look forward to building on our successful relationship with MFG by supporting the delivery of their ambitious dual-fuel strategy and assisting them in meeting rising consumer demand for the EV option.

Malcolm Darwen, Aptus Utilities project manager, commented:

“The success of this project would not have been possible without a combined effort from our team and the collective expertise and knowledge from the operations, electrical and design departments who collaborated well to achieve tight deadlines.

“Communication was central to the delivery of the scheme, both internally and with MFG, with whom we have regular, scheduled meetings to share progress updates and ensure all projects in Design and on-site remain on track.”

“With careful planning we were able to get an early date for the road opening notice enabling us to carry out the works on schedule, and we managed to achieve an energisation date three days after submission.”

“Aptus continues to grow its reputation for our EV design and installation services, and I look forward to working on more of these projects in the near future.”
