This National Apprenticeship Week we have been busy shouting about our new Aptus Academy and the career pathways at Aptus.
We are proud to have had more than 65 apprentices through our doors since our first recruit joined us on a business administration apprenticeship in 2012. Back then, we were just a small team of nine working out of one office when we set out to ‘grow our own talent’ by developing people in the Aptus way with the vital skills needed for this industry.
The theme for the 16th annual campaign was Skills For Life so we used this to highlight the diverse career roles an apprenticeship in the construction and multi utility sector can lead to.
It’s reported that as many as a quarter of a million workers may be needed in construction by 2026, and in the energy and utilities sector the number is even higher. At Aptus our apprenticeships have been developed to support our business needs as we have grown. Since 2015 we have offered multi-utility and jointing craft apprenticeships, as well as adding finance and warehousing to our programme, and we will continue to develop our training in line with our requirements.
Natasha Clarke, Aptus People Director, said:
“Apprentices have been absolutely key to our success. We’ve had over 65, covering multi-utility, jointing, warehousing, finance and business admin. Continuing to attract apprentices into the business across all areas is essential for us to continue to grow Aptus successfully.”
During the week we got involved on social media sharing our news under the hashtag #NAW2023 and #SkillsForLife. Natasha and HR Assistant Libby also attended Wigan & Leigh College’s ‘Meet the Employer & Apprenticeships Team’ event to meet with prospective apprentices and tell them about the training we offer including our specialist multi-utility training schemes and business administration apprenticeships.
