Toy donation boosts stock at Manchester charity’s Christmas shop

This December Aptus Utilities collected donations for the Wood Street Mission to support its quest to provide Christmas presents for children across Manchester and Salford this festive season.

A combined effort by employees and subcontractors amassed an assortment of goodies including toys, games and selection boxes for the charity’s Christmas shop.

In recognition of the hardship some families face at Christmas the Wood Street Mission has provided toys for local children since the charity began in 1869. Parents and carers can also visit their ‘Christmas Shop’ at Wood Street to choose presents for children aged 0-14 years.

The charity also hosts an annual Christmas party and estimates having reached around 3,900 children this Christmas.

Wood Street Mission is equally busy during the rest of the year providing free practical help and services to Manchester and Salford families living on a low income.

In 2019 the charity celebrates its 150th anniversary – find out more about Wood Street Mission’s valuable work at www.woodstreetmission.org.uk.
