Aptus attends prestigious national award ceremony

Members of Aptus Utilities attended the most prestigious event in the Apprenticeship calendar, the finals of the government backed National Apprenticeship Awards which took place at Old Billingsgate this November.

The lavish ceremony was attended by 800 people, hosted by TV presenter George Clarke and included speeches from Education Secretary Damian Hinds and Skills & Apprenticeships Minister Anne Milton.

North West SME Employer of the Year

Our journey to the national finals began in September when we were awarded North West SME Employer of the Year for our commitment to training and developing business and construction apprentices. Two of our business recruits Emily and Abi (pictured) collected the award and represented the company admirably during the photographs and interviews that followed.

On Wednesday 28th November we travelled to London to compete against eight regional winners for the national title. Whilst we did not come home with the trophy it is a huge accolade to have been in the line-up on a national stage alongside SME employers from across the country, all making an incredible effort to drive their businesses forward through apprenticeships. We are now focused on building on the work we have done so far and developing our apprenticeship programme to inspire more people to enter the construction and utilities industries.

Aptus Utilities Managing Director Lisa Kerford said: “Reaching the finals of the National Apprenticeship Awards is a huge achievement and wonderful recognition of the work we are doing across the company to grow our business through apprenticeships. I would like to congratulate our whole team on their efforts. This shows we are on the right path and has given us further impetus to continue our work developing skilled professionals and ensuring construction can continue to meet the high level of demand for infrastructure and housing.”
