Supplier Spotlight – The Lighthouse Construction Industry Charity

Aptus is a passionate supporter of the Lighthouse Construction Industry Charity – the only charity that provides emotional, physical and financial wellbeing support to construction workers and their families.

Here we talk with Sarah Bolton, the charity’s director of services about why the charity is particularly important at this time of year.

Q: Tell us a little bit about the charity and how it started?

The Lighthouse Construction Industry Charity has been around since 1956 and was created by people in construction to support construction workers.

We support construction workers and their families in times of crisis. Our head office is in Ipswich and we cover the whole of the UK and ROI.

Q: How can construction workers contact you for support?

They can contact us through our 24/7 helpline, our construction industry charity free downloadable app, our text #HARDHAT 85258 service or through our website.

Q: How can people and companies make a donation or get involved?

You can support us by becoming a company supporter or holding your own lighthouse day. You can find details about this here www.lighthouseclub.org/support-us

Q: Looking back on 2022, what moments make you most proud?

The introduction of the Lighthouse Beacons and our onsite tours have been a great success. We have helped more people this year than any other year, and we have trained more people in mental health first aid.

Q: What are Lighthouse’s aims for 2023?

To further service our industry to foster positive support and build positive communities.

Q: Anything else you want to tell us?

Our charity exists to improve the welfare and wellbeing of our workforce and reduce suicides in our industry and our vision is that no construction worker or their families should be alone in crisis. Ultimately what we are about is community and casting a web of support for the construction community and all the allied trades. We help without judgement.
