Aptus’ Cash for Kids Recycle Bank receives record donations

Did you know that 1.2 million tonnes of clothing and textile waste sent to landfill in the UK each year could be recycled? At Aptus we are trying to do our bit to help by hosting a Cash for Kids Recycle Bank at our head office in Bolton.

If you are having a clear out to make way for your summer clothes, why not bring your wearable clothing, shoes, belts, bags and scarves to be recycled in our big blue bin!

Recycling helps to reduce waste sent to landfill and what’s more, for every tonne collected Cash for Kids receives £250 to help them continue supporting disadvantaged children and their families.

In 2023 so far Cash for Kids Recycle Banks across Greater Manchester have raised nearly 3K! We are proud to be supporting them in their mission. In April alone Aptus raised a record £400 through our recycling bank – so thank you to everyone who has donated!

Cash for Kids Charity Fundraising Executive Lucy Summerton, said:

“Thanks to your incredible support and dedication to advertising and filling your recycle banks, you have helped Cash for Kids raise an incredible £2,782 so far this year. We are only four months into this year and this is the best year of recycling yet.

“We are so grateful to Aptus Utilities for hosting a recycle bank and helping to raise money for Cash for Kids and helping so many children across our local area. April was the best month we have ever had for recycling and Aptus Utilities raised over £400 through your recycle bank, so thank you so much!”

Cash for Kids are a grant-giving charity helping community groups, other charitable organisations, schools and individual causes. In 2022 they raised £20.4 million across the UK, supporting 489,409 children.

What happens to your unwanted clothes? Clothing that’s good enough to be reused is shipped around the world to help people who are living in poverty, and anything else is shredded and turned in to things like carpet underlay, insulation or fuel to generate electricity. Visit Cash for Kids Recycling to locate your nearest Recycle Bank or to get more information on hosting a bank.
