We’re happy to announce that Aptus is officially a real Living Wage Employer!
This means that everyone working for Aptus will earn a wage that meets their everyday needs. We’re pleased to say our commitment applies not only to directly employed staff but to all our subcontracted staff too, and we have a plan in place to ensure this will be rolled out to all our regularly contracted staff in future.
The Living Wage Foundation recognises those employers who are committed to paying their staff a wage that meets their daily needs according to the real cost of living. In contrast to the statutory national living wage, which pays an average UK hourly rate of £10.42 to over 23s, the real living wage recognises the true cost of living, paying an hourly rate of £10.90 to people aged 18 and over. You can watch a video on how they calculate this here.
Aptus are one of over 13,000 organisations who are voluntarily choosing to pay the real Living Wage because we believe that a hard day’s work deserves a fair day’s pay. We join FTSE 100 organisations and household names including IKEA, Nationwide, and Google who are committed to ensuring their employees can earn a wage which is enough to live on.
“We are proud to share our official status as a Living Wage Employer! This accreditation provides assurance to all employees, whether directly employed or subcontracted, that we are committed to supporting them and their families in meeting the everyday costs of living.
We believe a successful business is built on its people and for us this means creating an inclusive and respectful environment for our colleagues where their hard work and commitment is recognised and rewarded – we hope this investment helps to underline this.”
The Living Wage accreditation is a great way for organisations to demonstrate their commitment as a responsible employer in choosing to go further than paying the government’s national minimum. Find out more and sign up at https://www.livingwage.org.uk/accredit
