Recycle bank supports children’s charity

We are encouraging people to donate their unwanted wearable clothing and accessories to our recycle bank, which we are proud to host at our head office in Bolton on behalf of Cash for Kids.

In 2023 donations to our Cash for Kids recycling bank prevented 910kg of clothing from going to landfill. This also raised £263.50 for the charity, which supports children in poverty or facing hardship.

In total, with the support of Greater Manchester businesses like ours, Cash for Kids’ Wear Share Care campaign prevented over 32,000kg of clothing from going to landfill and raised over £8,000.

Cash for Kids is a grant-giving charity which supports children from birth up to and including 18 years of age who are vulnerable, come from disadvantaged backgrounds or are living with an illness or disability. The charity also provides a lifeline to many other charities, organisations and community groups, funding much-needed services and life-changing equipment.

The charity reports that 2023 was a record breaking year for their overall fundraising efforts as they raised £23.7 million across the UK, helping 579,376 children. This includes their Mission Christmas campaign which our generous colleagues at Aptus donate to each year.

Items donated to our recycling bank will be reused and any materials or textiles that can’t be rehomed are recycled, making this an environmentally friendly way to support a fantastic charity. The recycling bank at Aptus head office is emptied every month and for every tonne that is collected Cash for Kids receive £250.

We can accept bagged clothing, paired shoes, belts, bags and other accessories. To find a Cash for Kids recycling bank near you, or apply to become a host visit https://planetradio.co.uk/hits-radio/charity/events/wear-share-care.
